The Bleach Boys' latest cd single (Feb. 2012)
I have recently had the pleasure of listening to the latest CD single release from my one of my long term favourite English punk bands - the Bleach Boys (veterans from the dawn of the UK punk rock movement). The CD has two tracks, Guantanamo Baby and Death List and plays for around five minutes. Now five minutes doesn’t seem like long but bearing in mind I played it about a dozen times in a row – you too could have an hour’s worth of top entertainment – and all for less than the price of a pint of beer.
Both tracks bounce energetically along; Guantanamo Baby is about the infamous prison and Death List is about dead famous folk whose images still appear on T-shirts (Jesus gets a name check as do Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, Steve McQueen, James Dean, John Lennon and Elvis Presley). Both tracks may of course contain more deep and meaningful content but I’ll leave you to be the judge of that!
The Bleach Boys deliver a blend of fast paced punk and irreverent humour that shows no signs of abating and I for one am grateful. Keep it up fellas!
You can buy the CD from the Bleach Boys directly or you can download the tracks via iTunes. My advice is just get on with it; oh and try to get to a gig too!
John Barnett; I owe you a beer!
