The Summit kids get in touch
Since publishing the Camp America related articles, I have been delighted to exchange some notes via Facebook and email with a number of the kids that I supervised/lived with at Camp Summit 19 years ago. In particular, a transatlantic virtual 'high five' goes to Adam Langer, Adam Grossman and Stevie Sayet.
These youngsters are now full grown adults and making their own ways in the world. In one of the articles, I mentioned that one of the reasons that camp was good for the kids was that they made friends for life - the exchange of Facebook notes proves that many of the guys are still friends and it’s nice to know.
I have traded emails with one or two of the guys directly and it amuses me to think that if I ever get the chance catch up with any of these fellas face to face, I’ll be able to do it over a beer.
I have added some more photos to this post because it is the pictures that have inspired so much communication.
So here you will see shots of the complete Everest Right bunk from 1994 and the whole Whitney cabin from 1995. I have this idea in my head that it would be really interesting to compile one of these shots but with the faces of everyone in 2013. So if you are reading this note and were in one of the cabins send me a ‘head and shoulders’ type shot and I’ll make a 2013 rogues gallery! It might be a laugh for everyone.
